Turning Over a New Paige
with Positive Choysez!
This is the story of Paige, who came to Choysez and left us with a new attitude and a proud mum.
They were both interviewed on BBC Radio Newcastle and they are a great example of the work we are doing at Choysez- giving young people the chance of a better future. We endeavour to do this with every young person that comes to us and stories like Paige’s give us all the motivation we need in order to keep doing this each and every year.
Thank you Paige and Heidi for your kind words; we wish you the best of luck for the future!
At Choysez we are able to offer our young people the opportunity to stay overnight in our cottage at the heart of Kielder forest.
Kielder is an important part of the Choysez programme, allowing our young people to learn emotionally and socially as well as intellectually.
It is here that they are able to take a break from their lives and to reflect upon them whilst also learning new skills such as independency which, in turn, improves their self-esteem, and all these great benefits run alongside having fun in the outdoors.

The Poetry Games
Some of our young people entered another Young Writers competition- The Poetry Games- and Shannon Hemsley has had her poem selected for the January anthology. This means that for each competition our young people have entered we have had a winner- and we think that 2 out of 2 ain’t bad! We’re really proud of Shannon for working so hard on her poem –so proud that we are showing off her poem here on our website:
My Pretty Kitten
My kitten’s so pretty, soft and small, She runs and plays and catches her ball. My kitten’s so clean and neat, After each meal she washes her feet. I love to pat her silky fur, And listen when she starts to purr. Then she takes a nap in the sun, Then the poem’s been done.
